Today I am featuring a card using the absolutely gorgeous new stamp set by Alicia Krupskya, Snow Birds. I watercolored the darling little bird in the middle for my card, but I cannot wait to try coloring the cardinal in colored pencil!

I heat embossed the bird with white embossing powder on Canson cold pressed watercolor cardstock. I painted this little guy similarly to what he would look like in real life. (Blessings to Google.) I used Gansai Tambi Kuretake watercolors, but I had to mix to create the neutral colors I used.

This background is so shimmery, I just love it. I used Coliro pearl watercolors in gold and rose gold to create this pale rose gold shimmery background. I used a light wash of water to get my paper ready, and then I spread the rose gold watercolor around and heat set it. Then I repeated that process with more rose gold paint and heat set it again. Once it was fairly dry, I splattered saturated blobs of gold and rose gold paint across my paper to give it a splattered effect. I also ran my brush down the edges of my cardstock to create a border.

I adhered my shimmery watercolor panel to a top folding notecard made with Gina K. Designs Kraft cardstock and popped my bird up right in the center. I heat embossed an encouraging greeting with white embossing powder on black onyx cardstock to create a little sentiment strip. I added a few foam squares to the back of my strip, leaving a little space for where the strip connected with the bird.

I wanted my envelope to coordinate, so I used a Gina K. Designs Kraft envelope and used the same brush technique on the edges of the envelope using rose gold watercolor paint. This really tied the envelope to the card and created a fun and flashy border. I absolutely love rose gold with kraft. Winning combo!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my little bird card. Let me know what you think in the comments. I love reading them. 🙂
