The Gina K. Designs September Kit has arrived and it is GORGEOUS! The coneflowers in this kit are perfect and huge. They really fill up a card. Don’t you just love the color palette in this kit?? The colors are- Faded Brick, Charcoal Brown, Honey Mustard, Plum Punch, and Prickly Pear.
I just had to make a 5×7 card with these coneflowers. I love the blank space surrounding them. Not too busy! I no-line watercolored these flowers by stamping them in Antique Linen and watercoloring them with Distress Ink.
This is one of my favorite incentive stamps yet! This rose is so large and also very easy to cut out with fussy cutting. Since it is so large, it is very easy to watercolor. I find that images with very tiny details are difficult to color.
This rose is called ‘Santana Rose’ which is a scarlet-orangey color. I used a mix of Distress Inks to get my orange tones. The colors I used are Carved Pumpkin, Spiced Marmalade, and Ripe Persimmon.
I am glad Gina named this rose ‘Santana Rose’ so I could go out of my comfort zone with colors a bit. I never would have thought to paint a rose this orangey shade, but I love it so much! The orange really complements the green so nicely. I painted a very faint grey in the background to ground the images a bit.
I really enjoyed trying my hand at no-line watercoloring with this release. The first flower in this picture you may remember from yesterday. 😉
I hope you enjoyed the inspiration! What is your favorite color scheme from these flowers? I was so surprised at how beautiful these colors are together. My favorite is leaning towards the orange.
